HD Radio University Launched to Educate Retail Professionals on the Consumer Benefits of Digital AM and FM Broadcasting and to Increase Sales of HD Radio™ Products

Free Online Program Is Available to Sales Professionals through CyberScholar®.com

LAS VEGAS, NV, International Consumer Electronics Show January 04, 2006 – iBiquity Digital, the sole developer of digital HD Radio technology, announced today that it has partnered with Creative Channel Services’ cyberscholar.com to launch a training program designed to educate retail sales professionals on the benefits of HD Radio technology. The program – called “HD Radio University” – is free and requires only a one-time registration at www.hdradiouniversity.com, starting at the end of January.

“Developed by Creative Channel Services (CCS), the HD Radio e-learning site is hosted on CCS' CyberScholar.com, the #1 consumer electronics sales training portal which reaches up to 90,000 retail professionals in over 7,000 stores nationwide," said Andy Restivo, president of CCS. "CyberScholar online training is endorsed by major retailers such as Best Buy, CompUSA, Micro Center, Staples, Circuit City and more."

Designed to be an engaging and entertaining incentive, HD Radio University will offer retailers two levels of achievement: an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree. Each degree will require sales professionals to participate in 20 minutes of training (broken into two 10-minute sessions) and pass quizzes at the end of each session. Later in 2006, a third 20-minute unit may be added to create a master’s degree level that incorporates the more technical aspects of the HD Radio digital broadcasting system.

“Working with Cyberscholar, we’ve designed a flexible program that can train both large, professional staffs at national retail chains and individuals at specialty dealers,” said Bernie Sapienza, vice president of retail business development, iBiquity Digital. “Since it is important that we have a scalable program that can grow with us as quickly as the nation’s broadcasters are rolling out new HD Radio content, Cyberscholar is the obvious partner because it is the training tool approved by most of the major retail outlets.

“HD Radio University will prove an invaluable tool for training sales professionals on the key benefits of the technology, such as multicasting,” Sapienza continued. “Additionally, as sales staffs turn over, HD Radio University will be instrumental in helping new hires quickly and easily get up to speed on the technology.”

The designers of HD Radio University have taken steps to ensure that the web site is as engaging and informative as possible. Audio, Flash, and other interactive elements have been incorporated into the site in order to enhance the learning experience. HD Radio University is also more than just a training site. It will serve as a portal to sales professionals interested in keeping updated on new developments with HD Radio technology, similar to the role that the successful HD Radio Playbook has played for broadcasters.

About HD Radio™
More than 3,000 radio stations in the U.S. are either on the air today or in the process of converting to the HD Radio system with more than 600 HD Radio stations currently broadcasting in digital HD Radio technology. The system transmits digital audio and data alongside existing AM and FM analog signals, allowing listeners with HD Radio-compatible receivers to enjoy CD-quality sound, while virtually eliminating the static and hiss often associated with analog radio. Beyond delivering superior sound, the technology provides a platform for advanced new services, including scrolling text on receiver displays (e.g., artist names & song titles, weather forecasts, school closings); delivery of real-time traffic updates to vehicles; and multicasting -- a feature that allows FM stations to broadcast up to eight digital streams of programming over a single frequency and in addition to existing analog signals. HD Radio receivers are now available or are expected in early 2006 from: Audio Design Associates, Alpine, Boston Acoustics, DaySequerra, DICE Electronics, ECLIPSE by Fujitsu Ten, JVC, Kenwood, Panasonic, Polk Audio, Radiosophy, Rotel, Sanyo, and Yamaha, with many more under development.
