Case Study - CEA CEknowhow

Online Training and Certification Site Educates Retail Salespeople on Consumer Technology

SUMMARY

To meet the challenge of keeping retailers current on consumer electronics technologies, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) partnered with CCS to create CEknowhow.com, a comprehensive web-based online training and certification program. The site reaches thousands of retail salespeople, increasing knowledge of technology categories and delivering over 10,000 certifications each year.

STRATEGY

Working with industry experts at CEA, CCS designed and developed CEknowhow to feature interactive, brand-neutral training on seven major consumer electronics categories, including audio, digital television, digital imaging, home networking, mobile, MP3 and wireless technologies.

SOLUTION

To deliver the training to its targeted audience, CCS integrated CEA’s CEknowhow e-learning site into CyberScholar®.com, the #1 resource for consumer electronics retail salespeople. Sales associates completing the courses become eligible for monthly and quarterly prizes and can earn certifications in all product categories. In addition to over 60 training modules, the CEknowhow site also houses job aids, research materials and study guides.

SUCCESS

Monthly participation in CEA’s CEknowhow site on CyberScholar.com continues to rise, with over 10,000 certifications awarded to qualified sales professionals annually. The site is a valued resource for salespeople from major retailers such as Best Buy, Ritz Camera, Circuit City, Staples and others, as well as hundreds of regional dealers and independent retailers. A study showed that 70% of sales associates taking the training rated it 4 or 5 (out of 5).
